Are bicycle freewheels for mountain bikes and road bikes (racers) interchangeable? Are the threads the same?

Yes they are. The concern with putting a MTB cog on a road bike is that most road derailleurs can’t handle cogs larger than 28 teeth or so. You may need to adjust chain length as well.
Yes I got one off a Mavic race wheel and put it on a mountain bike wheel years ago and it worked great.
Yes they are but you may have problems with the largest gear and the chain.
