Can anyone recommend a good hardtail bike for me for downhill.?
hi need a downhill bike and friend advised me to get a hardtail can guys tell me some good makes + must be under 400

Hi..
You really can’t get a hardtail downhill bike, especially under $400. The brakes- all by themselves- tend to cost more than $400 on a downhiller.
Unfortunately, if you buy a full suspension bike for under $400 you will have the same problem- it just won’t hold up.
So, as suggested before, save your money, wait until you have at least $1500 OR choose a less punishing form of riding.
Keep saving. Seriously, $400 won’t last going downhill.

Hey James,
I would recommend a full suspension bike for any type of downhill riding other than dirt jumping or dual slalom which would be good on a hardtail. You might find a Specialized P series or Haro DJ on ebay or a stolen one on Craigslist for $400. Good Luck.

Um, I love hardtails, even though I ride an XC full suspension bike. I don’t think I’d use a hardtail for downhill, honestly. Go visit a few local bike shops and tell them your plans and budget, and see if they can’t hook you up with something in your price range, although $400 is kind of limiting…
you wont get anything descent for $400. something that cheap will fall apart down the hill.
seriously, a good downhill bike is at least $2000, maybe half that on ebay.
Goodluck finding a good downhill for that cheap… i Would look at the jamis komodo tho…. My bike shop hooked me up with a year old one for 500…. Good luck
