Well, being a fan (or should I say a FANATIC!!!!, like many of us!!) of mountain bikes, it fills our thoughts, and to our mates envy, it is too important for us.
Probably like me, you read every mountain bike reviews you can get your hands on. YES, holy wheel!!! As many as possible!
Weekends I like the mountain bike action with all my dudes. We are like an infantry regiment!.
Like old veteran soldiers, we compare our scars, discuss about the best mountain bike ever built, and argue about future trends.
…but, weekends apart, every one of us have obligations…. Job, family, friends….
I myself pass the mayor part of the days sitting in front of a computer screen, away from my passion….
As an alternative (very, very, lean one…) I have set my wallpaper in my computer to show my dedication, and believe me, it gives me inspiration.
Have you tried (those of you who work in front of a screen) to adopt my preference?
I’ve been thinking that maybe I should set my wallpaper to scroll between many pictures of my favorites:
mountain bike action
full suspension mountain bikes
specialized mountain bikes
giant mountain bikes

….or even, in order to avoid being so boring:

mountain bike parts
mountain bike accessories
mountain bike gear

Dear comrade, I’m exaggerating? I’m getting out of proportion? Do I need to set a meeting with a “shrink”?
I hope you will share your opinion with me. Maybe I’m not the only one who thinks like this.
Anyway, anything that keeps me close to my passion, is a blessing.

See you on the trails…

...in the woods....

Since a while ago, your friends started to get into a new trend, mountain bikes. They talk about of mountain bike action, like downhill mountain bikes, mountain bike trails, and riding in the wilderness.
Yes, admit it, you want it too. But budget is an issue.

You have two options:
cheap mountain bikes
second hand mountain bikes

Going cheap is tempting, but you can’t get the best for cheap…..
So you bet on the second solution, second hand mountain bikes.
You would like to have one of the best mountain bike brands, but with short budget, needless to say, your opportunities are limited.
Another issue you shouldn’t neglect is your mountain bike gear, a must for the open. Your body will thank you:
mountain bike helmets
mountain bike shoes
mountain bike gloves
mountain bike apparel

As their name explains itself, you are after a mountain bike. Usually people who buy these bikes, also tend to use them, abuse them, in the mountains, rocks, trees, water….you name it….
Mountain bikes are prone to damage and wear due to the environment they work on. When you buy a second hand mountain bike, you should check it very carefully.
Some areas of these bikes are more sensitive to damage, especially cracks, than others:
The bottom bracket
The head tube area.
Inspect these areas in great detail. You can use a magnifying glass for it.
Another area where wear can be easily detected is the drive chain area. Look for sharp teeth in the sprocket. See if the chain is fit to the sprocket wheel, or it seats loosely around it.

Expect wear. Be prepared to utilize these defects in order to obtain a better price. Argue on the need for some sort of replacement parts and preventive maintenance activities.
Mountain bike tires can be the difference between aligned mountain bike wheels, to misshaped ones. If you see new tires, beware, check the wheels very carefully.

When you buy a mountain bike, you are anxious to purchase it, as you think of the lovely time you will spend with it. But one day you may want to get an upgrade to a new pair of specialized mountain bike. You’ll be wanting to sell your current mountain bike as a second hand article.
The best mountain bike brands are the most popular and valuable. Go for them. You may regret not doing so at the time of selling. Just like used cars.

It is not easy to write a short article that will be a “bible” for the new owner. Actually, it is impossible. Read reviews, ask other mountain bikers for their opinion and recommendation. Mountain bikers tend to form groups of interest, sharing experiences and difficulties. Join them. They will be glad to assist “one of their own”, even if you are a newbie.

If so, why not buy a cheap mountain bike?
Many reasons, many pros and cons.
Weight, bulkiness, maneuverability, selling, lack of replacement parts.
New, cheap, new, cheap, new, cheap, ….. you understand what I mean….

Well, the decision is not an easy one. Each option you choose, may be for good. Enjoy your time, hopping you will have some experiences to share with others.

Used sport bikes

If you are looking to buy used sport bikes – you are a wise person but it can also be said because you came to visit mountain bikes review :) . In our current economy you can find really good deals and prices on almost brand new sport bikes that people are selling because they need the money. If you know what kind of bikes you need and whats your budget - you are almost set to go. You just need to know what to look into when buying used sport bikes and how to find the best deal.

The main things to look at are the frame – you want to make sure that there are no cracks anywhere on the frame, if its repainted then it’s a good sign since it means that the person that is selling you the bikes took a real good care of them. You can even ask him how did he maintained and serviced his bikes and what parts did he replace during the time he had them. Another thing you want to check is the wheels, you must make sure that they are straight ad if the bikes come with gears you also want to make sure that its easy to change the gears and that you wont have to fight them every time you drive the bikes. The chain is another important part of the bikes and the teeth must be rounded, if they are too sharp it means that the bikes are a bit worn out and that you’ll need to replace the chain sometime in the near future. In this case you can negotiate with the seller and cut the price even lower and at the same budget buy the bikes and a new chain.

All in all buying used sport bikes is a wise thing to do and I am truly happy for you. If you don’t want to deal with all the techy stuff and you just want to find a good looking bikes for a good price and let someone else make sure that you are buying a good pair of bikes then I suggest that you’ll head to eBay where you can be certain that you are buying from a trusty place.

It seems like there's a lot of disparity from one brand's shoe to the next, whether the shoes are made for road biking or mountain biking. Some mountain biking shoes seem more comfortable for everyday use or for walking. What's the downside in getting mountain biking shoes for a road bike?

My family has just started going mountain biking at various parks and other locations and I realized my old bike is a little small. I need a full sized men's mountain bike with full suspension and (preferrably) disc brakes. I am hoping to spend around 0.00 but if it's worth it, I can spend more.
Any insight about a mountain bike around this price will be very helpful.
Thanks
Also, I found a cool Kawasaki mountain bike, but I don't know if it's any good.

I have heard that there are mountain bikes that are good for all terrains but perform better on smooth surfaces also. Can anyone recommend a bike that is like this and isn't overly expensive. I was thinking about getting a Columbia trail head Mt bike. Any other suggestions?
