how do I learn to ride a wheelie on my downhill mountain bike?
it's an '03 Santa Cruz Bullit with a Marzocchi 66 light front fork and I love it but I've never been good at wheelies/manuals, as soon as I get to the right balance point I panic and hit the rear brake. I was wondering if anyone out there had any tips.

its like doing a wheelie on a smaller bike, you just need to compensate for more weight in the front. try this using platform pedals, so if you freak out you can just jump off. do a few wheelies and pull back really far, you may have to jump off the back a few times. the idea is to find your center of balance. once you get there, is all cake after that.
btw, sweet ride.
lol that was me about 2 months ago, first you have to figure out which type u r better at, the manuel or pedalled wheelie, i’m a little better at the manuel.
my advice is to go for it, first figure out which type ur a better at, and then practice it for months and months.
tip: use the rebound of ur front suspension and pull the handle bar as hard as u can, and that means to pull it toward your body as much as you could. dont get scared and lean forward, be relaxed and slowly lean backwards until you get a feel
cut the brake line and use your feet to stop then you won’t hit the brakes and if you do they won’t work hahahaha
