Mountain biking – I am interested in serious mountain biking but I don’t no where to start? At the moment I…?
...have a regular crappy moutain bike and go on beach tracks near my home. However, I would like to join a club and start doing some more tricky and challenging tracks. Do you need a certain type of bike before you can join a club?

You can join a club with any type of bike. Then you can see what everyone is riding and get some good input on what you want.
get a new mountain bike one with lotss of gears
you start at the bottom of the mountain
You do not need a certain type of bike. Each club will have a different personality though. Some might be hardcore endurance racers only. Another one might be focused more on duathlons. Chances are most clubs you find will be pretty open to all levels, just ask around first. Try your local bike shop, the should have some information. I promise if you find a club that has a wide range of riders you will also find a wide range of bikes. Let your skills improve first. As you get better and stronger you’ll have a better idea what kind of bike you might be interested in buying in the future.
First of all ask in your local bike if there are any clubs around, then contact the club, and find out what would be good for you, and just take advice from them.
Good luck
Well, for a kickstart you may wanna use a WSD (women specific design ) type of bike i.e. Specialized S-Works Safire ( or Myka and Era —they look cool!!! ) or a Trek Fuel EX 8 WSD. They will excellent if you are joining a club of hammerheads and be well geared for the trips ( http://www.bicycling.com for more). Impressive you have the initiative and good luck—RIDE !
