Most brands of bikes at a given price use similar parts, so general reliability is going to be similar. What really counts is the quality of the store where you buy your bike, how well it was assembled and adjusted, and how well they look after you after you buy. Check the spec sheets for two similar bikes at about the same price, a large percentage of the components will be the same.

I had a Trek 820, which is a cheap Trek, for over 15 years and more than 20,000 miles. I would say that is reliable. I recently got a new mountain bike, a Raleigh Mojave 8.0, which I am extremely happy with. I would stay away from Cannondale and even Marin as there aren’t as many places to get them serviced. I also know a lot of people who have been really unhappy with their Cannondales. Paying for the name and not necessarily quality.

  3. Um all are gonna be reliable bikes if you take care of the bike good. I prefer Trek or Specialized but if you really want a great bike then buy a Santa Cruz or an Intense, your gonna pay for them but they are about the best you can buy.

  4. definitly cannondale

  5. they all make good bikes. i prefer specialized

  6. All those 4 brands are pretty good. Cannondale use lots of special parts so spares are hard to come by, but the other 3 use standard parts. You will struggle to find a difference in terms of quality and reliability between all of the brands but I am personally a fan (and owner) of marin bikes.
