Im getting into downhill mountain biking, and I have a Mongoose xr-75. Im pretty happy with the bike, but i need something more serious that wont break the bank. Id like a dual suspension disc brake bike that can handle pretty tough trails. The prices on such bikes seem erratic and i don't really know the quality difference. I don't need like a competition bike, but id like something i can beat the crap out of and still get home. :)

  1. Good quality + bicycle = Expensive.

Fact of life. If you are happy with the ol’ Mongoose — ride it and keep saving your money.

  2. Every time I read a question like what is a good cheap bike, I turn it around and think I am too cheap to buy a good bike. You can take a Walmart bike out on the trails and even race with one, but I know better then take one down hill with any abandon. You can save some money buying used but be sure you spend the money to get something that will handle it.

  3. Good and cheap dont go together especially for bikes try treks there great and cannondale:)
