  1. The average price for a decent to good 29er is about 1,500-1,600 bone. I have a Raleigh that was 1200 and I also have a soma 29er frame that I built up with OK parts ( don’t build bikes up from scratch they’ll end up costing you more), Right know I’m trying to build up a niner frame with a fox fork, but that’s kind of setting me back right now.

I did see garry fishers new line and yeah they look pretty damn sweet but your looking at that 1,500-1,600 range. For 1,000 $ range look into felt, raleigh, or even specialized has a decent 29er now. Most cheap 29ers go for 1,200 but you can get alot of deals when the new lines come out and they’re trying to get rid of the old ones. or you can just get a single speed which cuts off about 200 bucks just cuase it doesn’t have a derailer to deal with.

A big thing that people want are hydrolic brakes these days, also expesive don’t thro cable breaks out, they can do the same thing plus they’re adjustable on the spot with a simple tool kit vs. having to blead them and get a leak in the line, But hydrolics are still nice, if you have the money get em’.

    hope this helps

  2. Thats a decent bike alright. Specialized Rockhopper & Kona Kahuna are two others to look at

  4. Just picked up a 2010 Redline D660 for $1250.00 would recommend you atleast revie the bike.. excellent components light weight 26lbs and people can say whatever they want about Redline not being the company it used to be but they still make great bikes and the D660 is one of ‘em. Check it out!

  6. Just had my first ride on my new 09 Fuji Tahoe Pro 29er. it’s different…but it’s great. Good gearing, forgiving over larger roots, etc, the disc brakes are very good. Got it for $999 at Performance Bike in South Austin plus dbl points in their club to cover costs of other stuff. Jon Stringer at PB is very good, patient, knows his stuff and super customer service focus.
