Where is the cheapest place in Edinburgh to buy mountain bike tyers (size 26 x 2.00) and can I put wider tyers on the the original wheels?
ie 2.75 rather than 2.00
Thanks in advance
Hey guys The Edinburgh Bicycle shop was superb, i got two new tyers (specialized "flack jacket) for £10 a piece, I was advised to stick with the original size of tyre as I would mainly be riding on road.
The bike is a "Huffy", it was given to me by a friend, so I dont know much about the bike, it seems to be an american bike but I noticed the wheels were made in germany. I think there is a slight buckel in the rear wheel I was thinking of taking it to "Grate kes, No Bull" in Leith walk to hae it repaird or get a second hand wheel.

There’s no definite place for cheap tyres, just keep an eye out on deals in the shops. Edinburgh Bike Coop are ending their sale today at 6 so if you get along to there (Alvaney Terrace) you might pick something up. Online shopping is probably best to be honest, try http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Categories.aspx?CategoryID=740
Delivery is free too.
Trying to squeeze a 3 inch tyre on will depend on your bike and what clearance it has when it passes through the chainstays. I doubt it would fit however and even if it did the wheels might be too narrow for the tyre and the tyre would move about too much on the rim. Try a 2.3, they are pretty wide and might fit your frame. What bike do you have?
