Disc brakes, like a car, instead of two pieces of rubbing making friction against the rims there is a disc which is attached to the wheel, the disc slows down the wheel slows with it.
This can stop the rim from wearing down and also is better for wet conditions as mud isn’t as likely to get onto the disc as it as to get onto the rims, the bad thing is its heavy and quite a bit pricier than rim (V) brakes, especially hydraulic ones.
i beleive these are called disc brakes? I think they are just a type of breaking system
because they are disc brakes
rather than the caliper brakes that grip the wheel rims
Brakes.
Disc brakes are more effective than conventional rim and block brakes. Some disc brakes are hydraulic (others cable powered). I think the hydraulic ones offer better control.
Importantly, the discs in the center are kept out of the mud and the wet because they’re about 11-12" off the ground. If you think about it, "normal" brakes are very close to the ground, and get wet even just splashing through puddles, imagine what that’d be like if it was muddy?
Too stop You fromm falling down the Hill duh duh…de de de de
Disc brakes have a few benefits over v-brakes (rim brakes)
1. power in various conditions. Dirt and water on rims cause brakes pads to limit the ability to stop.
2. In cases of rims getting bent, a disc brakes will continue to work while rim brakes may need to be disconnected to get the tire to pass through.
3.Larger rotor sizes can increase stopping ability without skidding (in some instances).
